The governorship candidate of the Accord Party in the April election, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, who is currently challenging the victory of Senator Abiola Ajimobi has tendered 62 exhibits before the Oyo State governorship election tribunal.Ladoja is currently challenging Ajimobi in a suit number EPT/IB/Gov/22/2015, before a 3-man panel. The 62 exhibits were made from 4 different documents and analysis of inspected election materials from wards and units from six local governments, namely — Atiba, Atisbo, Iseyin, Iwajowa, Kajola and Itesiwaju.
The first 4 documents aside ward by ward and unit analyses are the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines (Certified True Copy), INEC approved guidelines and regulations, manual for election officials 2015, and readings and data from the card readers and analysis of the inspection of election materials. The petitioners in the case are Senator Ladoja and Accord, while Senator Ajimobi, the All Progressives Congress (APC), INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Oyo State, Ambassador Rufus Akeju and the commission, are all respondents in the case.
After the conclusion of pre-hearing on Monday, the tribunal, on Tuesday, opened the full hearing session with the petitioners’ first witness, Bimbo Adepoju, who led a team to inspect INEC materials used for the election. Richard Ogunwole (SAN), represented the first and second petitioners, Olumuyiwa Aduroja (SAN) and Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), were counsel to the first and second respondents respectively, while Yusuf Ali, SAN, led a team of counsel for the third and fourth respondents. The tribunal continues its hearing today.
