PHOTOS: Former INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega bags 2 international Awards

The former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, has received two international awards for his role in the 2015 general elections.
The former INEC chairman was given the 2015 Charles T. Manatt Democracy Award by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) on Tuesday, September 29, in Washington D.C.
He also received the Integrity Award by Higher Education Foundation at the Waldorf Astoria, New York.
Speaking at the award ceremony in Washington, Jega acknowledged his colleagues at INEC, saying he could not take the credit alone, Daily Trust reports.
According to him, they also played an important role by ensuring a credible and transparent electoral process.
Since I assumed the chairmanship of INEC in 2010, we worked hard to make the commission an Election Management Body (EMB) characterised by professionalism and integrity.
“From the beginning, our mission was not to just improve INEC, but to make it one of the most effective EMBs in the world,” he said.
