Guests obviously set out to have a good time, and they sure did at Oriental Hotel, Lagos, venue of the event.
It was a fashion contest no doubt but the artistes that performed brought down the roof at the show.
Chidinma is a typical example of the saying, good things come in small packages. The petite diva got on the stage and mesmerised everybody first with her songs and her dance steps.
Ghost Mode crooner, Phyno, is no longer a new kid on the block. Phyno showed why so many artistes love to collaborate with him. The young lad got on the stage and turned the event around with his songs. Everybody got to their feet, dancing.
But the Black Diamond, Wande Coal, took the guests back memory lane with his Mohit hit bangers. It was fun and dance galore all the way.
However, it was not all about music, the fashion competition between the two teams, Elan and Loud Tribe, was a battle of the fittest.
The two teams’ collections were enchanting and the judges would have been in a tight situation trying to decide the winner.
However, Team Elan emerged winners after showcasing an original and cohesive collection that inspired the judges, Mai Atafo, April by Kunbi and Kinabuti. They walked home with the highly coveted prize of $20,000 while contending team, Team LoudTribe, who also showcased an equally creative collection came second place and received the sum of $4,000.
Speaking about the show, Senior Brand Manager, Fayrouz, Nnenna Ifebigh-Hemeson said, “ “The maiden edition of the Fayrouz L’Original Expression show is a one of a kind competition which was put together to promote young creative and talented fashionistas in Nigeria. As Fayrouz represents originality and creativity, these two teams have come a long way from where we started and we will continue to encourage them to be original.
“Team Elan has proved that they can achieve the best creative results in a short period and this is only the beginning of a successful career path for them. We can’t wait to see what they have for us at the next Lagos Design Fashion week in October.”
During the show, Fayrouz L’Original judges, Mai Atafo, Kunbi Oyelese of April by Kunbi, Kinabuti, Gozel Green and Orange Culture auctioned some of their exquisite designs. Guests went wild bidding for some of the outfits including a graceful white beaded gown by April by Kunbi as well as a three buttoned three-piece suit by Mai Atafo.
Other celebs who attended the event include Monalisa Chinda, Beverly Naya, Yaw, Ebuka Obi Uchendu, Tee A, Zainab Balogun, Lamide Akintobi, Omalicha, Vimbai of BBA, Moet Abebe, Kaylah and DJ Sose.
