LATE MURTALA MOHAMMED’s SON, ABBA SETS TO CONTEST AGAINST MOHAMMED ABACHA!

The two of them are to a large extent powerbrokers.  They hail from Kano, their fathers were generals and both ruled Nigeria and the two leaders both died while in power. Both had ventured out to represent the state in different categories without success.

While Mohammed Abacha staked all as a governorship aspirant, Abba also tried to come to the House of Representatives but they both failed.

Over  time. Mohammed established himself as a powerful force in Kano politics and one that cannot be  wished away with his clout, money and the memory of his father’s treatment by the powers that succeeded the latter.

Abba on his own built his own followership based on his own network as well as his family’s perceived humility and forthrightness.

The two sons of former military heads of state would be slugging it out for the ticket of the PDP in the next gubernatorial election in Kano State.

Though the President is alleged to be disposed to giving the ticket to Mohammed Abacha in view of the fact that he is believed to be the only one who has the financial clout to prosecute the type of onslaught they want against Rabiu Kwankwaso, the incumbent Governor who left PDP for APC, Risqa Abba Mohammed also have a say in the matter. Indeed, he is believed to be a major voice in the party in the state given the fact that he has been around all the while unlike Mohammed Abacha who comes and goes.
