Three weeks after the collapse of the guest house at Prophet T.B. Joshua’s Synagogue Church Of All Nations, reactions continue to trail the controversial Prophet as regards what manner of sanctions to be meted out as a result.
Many South Africans who could not hide their feelings took to social media to blast the man at the Synagogue and there were even reports that Nigerians in South Africa suffered reprisal attacks purportedly on belief of many of them that the Nigerian government was doing little to get to the root of the cause of the building collapse which killed over a hundred of its citizens and many more. For many who have followed the issue in the last 3 weeks or so, the big question they are asking is were it to be any other Pastor, what would have been the response of the Nigerian government? Although there are reports last week that the South African government was pressing legal charges against Prophet T. B. Joshua purportedly for negligence in the building collapse, it appears all of those are mere diplomatic muscling which may not see the light of day.
Despite the barrage of attacks on the Synagogue Pastor by Nigerians, President Jonathan, last week, paid a first hand visit to the church to commiserate with him on the tragedy. It was on Saturday 20th, September on the day of PDP South West Congress held at the Tafawa Balewa Square. President Jonathan, sources say drove straight from the Murtala M’hammed Airport to meet and sympathise with Prophet T.B. Joshua. A few days before, Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola had also visited the place.
Beside President Jonathan, dignitaries, politicians and top businessmen also visited the Ikotun, Egbe Church to commiserate with Prophet T.B Joshua. One of them is former Abia Governor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu. Rather than abandon the Prophet, it appears more sympathy are going the way of the man at the Synagogue.
Infact there is the belief in some quarters that Prophet T.B Joshua is untouchable. There is the story that if it were to be another man of God the story may have been different.
Those who premise their belief on the invincibility of Prophet T.B. Joshua say that its highly likely no punishment will be handed him and his church even as investigation are currently ongoing to determine the root-cause of the collapse. Last week, the Lagos State Government, in a statement, revealed they were stalling on any recommendations of their investigative Panel until the outcome of Federal Government’s inquiry into the incident.
A week ago, the Nigeria Police formerly announced the composition of an investigative panel to determine the cause of the building collapse. Although the church have come out with their own position saying they suspect sabotage in the collapse of the structure, the Synagogue Pastor, it appears is coming out stronger. There are those who say that since the unfortunate incident happened, Prophet T.B. Joshua has been pressing the necessary buttons to scale down theoutburst over it.
This is made possible by the number of powerful and rich people worldwide who are members of his church or are just his wards by virtue of spiritual advise he gives them.
Many of them seek healings, deliverance and the powerful words of Prophecy from Prophet TB Joshua, whose long list of powerful worshippers include top Politicians, Sportsmen, Businessmen, Heads of States and Entrepreneurs in Nigeria and all over Africa. In Nigeria alone, Prophet T.B Joshua is the Spiritual father to many Politicians in President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet. While some associate with the Prophet openly, many do not but this magazine gathered that these big men are regular callers at the Ikotun based, Lagos based Church, where they go for regular prayer and spiritual advice from the man of God and even attend church service.
While many Nigerian politicians hide their dalliance with Prophet T.B. Joshua, for reasons best known to them, there are however many Africans of repute who openly display their friendship and relationship with T.B Joshua. One of them is ex-Zimbabwean Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai. Tsvangirai is a regular at SCOAN.
A few years ago, the leader of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) even came with 2 of his children, aides and officials and worshipped at the Synagogue for 2 days before he left for Zimbabwe.
Former Zambian President, Frederick Chiluba visited Synagogue for 4 days during his 10 year presidency. Impressed by what he saw, he later came back to worship in the SCOAN and even recommended Prophet T.B. Joshua to other world leaders who genuinely want to better the lives of their citizens.
During his Presidency, the late President of Gabon, Omar Bongo paid a historic visit to the Synagogue to meet with Prophet T.B. Joshua. For Pascal Lissouba, the former President of Congo, it was an unforgettable visit to the Synagogue after he met T.B Joshua who prayed for him and offered him spiritual cleansing. Andre Kolingba, the late former President of the Central African Republic also visited Synagogue and showed his appreciation to God for an enjoyable visit.
Another big personality who has close ties with Prophet T. B. Joshua is the Zulu King of South Africa, Goodwill Zwelithini Kabhekuzulu who gave a moving speech when he visited the synagogue. This is because he came with his epileptic daughter, Princess Sibusile, who after receiving prayers from T.B Joshua, reportedly was delivered of the sickness.
Three notable female figures around the globe who have associated with T.B Joshua are former South African first lady, Winnie Mandela and South African Minister of Energy, Dipuo Peters, who is a regular visitor to SCOAN. The list also include former Malawi President, Joyce Banda.
There is also Botswana Minister of Justice and Defence, Ramadeluka Seretse, who regularly visits the Synagogue for his spiritual growth . On one visit, Seretse said: “For Botswana to move forward positively as a nation, its people have to believe God and be delivered…. a lot of us who have come to the Synagogue would like to come here and get first hand information and experience the power of God”
Perhaps one notable figure who made headlines with his visits to the Synagogue is immediate past Ghanaian President, late John Evan Attah Mills, who died of throat cancer about 2 yrs ago. “I have been coming here to the Synagogue very regularly and I’ve known the man of God for more than 10 years …. I first met him when I was Vice-President of Ghana and I’ve continued to maintain the relationship ever since, “Mills said as part of a thanksgiving speech at the Synagogue, 4 days after his inauguration as President of the Republic of Ghana.
