that are needed to become self-employed. The programme was launched in the United Kingdom by
Ope Onaboye (known as Opy Onas), a UK-Based Nigerian and founder of PROTEN.

participation will also be given to all attendees at the end of the programme.

Speaking on the programme, Opy Onas, the visionary behind the initiative said “Youths unemployment across the world has become an epidemic and the statistics are even worse in countries like Nigeria.
Thousands of graduates are leaving higher institutions yearly with the hope of securing a job, but they
rather end up becoming part of the unemployment statistics with the risk of becoming a lost
generation. As long as I still see our youths risking their lives on the highway, selling snacks just to
make ends meet, I keep reminding myself that there needs to be a change. When I launched the
Passion To Profession Initiative many years ago, I realised that just like I chose the self-employment
route, every other youths should be given the same opportunity to become job-creators rather than
job-seekers. Our aim is to launch the Bootcamp in Lagos State with the hope of expanding it to several other stated in Nigeria in 2015″.
GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK (GEW) is a week in November of every year to promote and
celebrate creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship all over the world (www.unleashingideas.org). In
Nigeria, the Enterprise Development Centre, Pan-Atlantic University is the host organization for the
GEW.
PROTEN International engages and trains thousands of individuals yearly through one-one coaching,
seminars and conferences, corporate training programmes and other empowerment initiatives.
Founded in the UK, the organisation has worked with the UK Government to develop various
initiatives to tackle youth unemployment and engage hard to reach youths such as gang members
and ex-prisoners. PROTEN expanded into Nigeria in May 2014, with the launch of its first initiative
known as the Passion To Profession Campus Tour in partnership with the Lagos State Government. It
was an entrepreneurship training roadshow of Tertiary Institutions in Lagos State. The pilot of the
