There are indications that the closed-door meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, held at the latter’s Hilltop Mansion in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Monday, was meant to straighten issues. Sources in the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) told Nigerian Tribune that, “It is his (Jonathan) belief that elders, especially those who have held positions of authority before, are wiser out of office and that consultations with them from time to time is to be expected.
“The meeting was frank and straight to the issues at hand. The president assured Obasanjo he would do nothing to injure his reputation, but insisted that respect should be reciprocal. He said in our culture, elders are to be respected, even when they make mistakes and that when issues of public communication are involved, caution should not be thrown to the wind,” it was further gathered. Two clerics were also on hand at the meeting, though the real meeting took place at the inner recess of the living room.”
Questions from OBJ at the mother of all meetings with Jonathan witnessed by Papa Adeboye and Bishop Oyedepo.
Matters arising: Tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
(1) Did you agree to run for only one term or not?
(2) What did you tell me was your reason for not going after Boko haram insurgents even when I told you this will boomerang?
(3) What happened to the Nigeria's external reserve and sovereign wealth fund?
(4) Did you give licence to Niger Delta Militants (Dokubo and Toompolo) to import arms in the name of their privately owned companies? If so, for what reason?
(5) Did you not get correspondence from the United States consulate that a certain citizen named Buruji Kashamu is indicted for Drug trafficking? Why did you appoint the same Kashamu as South West leader of PDP rather than hand him over to the US? And did the PDP give automatic senate ticket to a wanted and convicted drug baron?
