Why Popular American Actress Uzo Aduba Could Not Change Her Nigerian Name

Uzoamaka Nwaneka “Uzo” Aduba (born 1981) is an American actress, born  and raised in Boston, the daughter of Nigerian parents (of Igbo origin). She is known for her role as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on the Netflix television series Orange Is the New Black (2013–present), for which she won the 2014 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.

She revealed in  an interview that she told her mum she wanted to change her name Uzoamaka, to Zoe, her mum replied: “If they can learn to say Tchaikovsky, Dostoyevsky and Michelangelo, they can learn to say Uzoamaka”
