Bini Kingdom Chief Priest reveals Oba of Benin’s presidential candidate

The Chief Priest, Isekhure of Benin Kingdom, Chief Nosa Isekhure, has declared that the Benin traditional ruler, Oba Erediauwa, has endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for re-election. The Chief Priest, who occupies a highly revered office in the Benin traditional institution, also took a swipe at a statement credited to the Esogban of Benin Kingdom, Chief David Edebiri, who reportedly said the Benin people, will not vote for President Jonathan.
Isekhure pointed out that no platform exists that speak for the entirety of the Benin people, adding that, “anybody pretending to be speaking on behalf of the Benin people on this issue is just wasting his time.” Isekhure spoke at his palace when a delegation of the President Goodluck Jonathan re-election campaign group, led by its cordinator, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, visited him.
Speaking on the endorsement of the President by the Benin traditional ruler, the All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart stated that Oba Erediauwa did not only endorse President Jonathan but “gave the necessary impetus for Jonathan to re-run.We cannot now turn around and say a new thing. As far as I am concerned, the only candidate I know, despite my political affiliation, is President Jonathan.”
