INTERNAL AUDITOR

SUMMARY
Concern Universal is an international development organisation that works through local partners to tackle poverty and has been registered in Nigeria since 2001. The Internal Auditor is responsible for designing and maintaining an internal quality control system that ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures and international audit standards. The post-holder will implement a review process for continuous assessment of financial and operational systems and their improvement, with a view to ensuring transparency and accountability for all project activities. Based in our head office in Calabar, the role also involves travel to project areas.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performing operational, financial and compliance audits through examination of financial and administrative records, processes, procedures and controls.
Gathering information on key operational and financial risks.
Evaluating and improving the effectiveness of existing controls designed to manage identified risks.
Ensuring the use of standard audit techniques to obtain, analyse and appraise data, transactions and records as a basis for enhancing the effectiveness of risk management.
Implementing approved recommendations/decisions and conduct subsequent evaluations to determine adequacy of new/corrective measures.Keeping management and partners informed by communicating observations, making presentations and periodic reporting of audit issues and progress towards improvement.
Making recommendations aimed at achieving value for money and operational efficiency
Conducting investigations and special audit assignments at the Country Director’s request

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Required/Desirable
Degree in Accountancy, or a related discipline, and an Accounting or Audit professional qualification
Relevant Post-graduate qualification
At least three years’ experience in a similar role
Experience with an International NGO
Ability to perform professional internal audit work with minimum supervision/instructions
Proficiency in computer audits
Proficiency in applying audit principles, skills and techniques in audit testing
Experience with accountancy software
Ability to maintain professional independence without compromising teamwork skills
Experience in training others
Understanding of the financial, operational and compliance risks affecting NGOs

FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION OFFICER

SUMMARY
Concern Universal is an international development organisation that works through local partners to tackle poverty and has been registered in Nigeria since 2001. This role will contribute to the sound financial management of the Rural Sanitation & Hygiene Promotion in Nigeria (RUSHPIN) project, through management of budgets, daily office administration, and support to project staff and partners. The post is based in our head office in Calabar, with regular travel to other project LGAs in Cross River State.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Verify monthly expenditures and bank reconciliations;
Prepare monthly and quarterly forecasts and float requests;
Liaise with auditors and provide requested information
Conduct regular visits to field offices in Abi, Obanliku & Bekwarra LGAs to support partner staff to maintain and improve established finance and admin systems
Serve as main contact point for financial queries from project partners;
Identify capacity gaps and training needs;
Liaise with Finance staff in other offices

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Required/Desirable
BSc or BA in relevant field Relevant Post-graduate qualification (Accounting/Finance/Management)
At least one years’ experience working in a finance or accounts department
Experience in the finance department of an International NGO
Strong working knowledge of computers and IT (Word, Excel etc.)
Working knowledge of database management or accounting software
Experience of training others in financial systems
Experience in office management (Admin/HR/Systems/Procurement)
Excellent attention to detail & time-management
Strong communication & problem solving skills

COMMUNICATION & LEARNING OFFICER

SUMMARY

This role will contribute to the dissemination of evidence-based advocacy and sharing of best practices and impacts of the Rural Sanitation & Hygiene Promotion in Nigeria (RUSHPIN) project, through identifying and writing case studies, managing social media and website content, management of budgets, daily office administration, and support to project staff and partners. Based in our head office in Calabar, the role also involves regular travel to project areas.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the main contact point for collection and dissemination of case studies, lessons learned and best practices emerging from the project
Writing and compiling concise and high quality case studies for reports and social media
Prepare reports, newsletters and responses to requests for information
Development of communication guidelines and training sessions for staff and partners
Conduct regular visits to field offices in Cross River & Benue States
Contribute to the implementation of the project’s Communication & Advocacy Strategy

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Required/Desirable
BSc or BA in relevant field (Communication, Journalism, International Development, WASH)
Relevant Post-graduate qualification At least two years’ experience in a similar role
Experience with an International NGOExcellent writing skills (2 samples required)
A record of published articles and reports.
Strong working knowledge of IT (Word, Excel) & social media (Blogs, Facebook, Twitter etc.)
Photography/film-making skills and experience with editing software
Excellent attention to detail & time-management
Strong interviewing and facilitation skills
Experience training others in communication
