Nigerian Players Abroad: I Joined Bremen To Be Part Of Their Project – Ujah

Super Eagles forward, Anthony Ujah, has revealed why he quit FC Cologne to join Werder Bremen on a four-year deal in the summer for a fee believed to be around €5m.

Ujah,24, who could not hide his love for Cologne, especially as the club assisted him regain his confidence after a false start to his career in the Bundesliga with Mainz 05, said he joined Bremen as a result of his “interest their project”.

He said: ‘’I chose Werder Bremen because the project they are building is interesting, but, most of all, because of the trust they’ve placed on me.

‘’I’ll miss everything about Cologne – the club, the city and the people.

‘’Going to training every day and not seeing [the] same people will not be easy to handle but that’s life and football, so I’ll have to live with it.’’

The Nigeria international, who is still technically under contract with Cologne until June 30, has refused to set himself any target to improve his performance at the Weserstadion, his new home.

‘’I haven’t thought much about what’s going to happen over there, as I’m still under contract with Cologne and still have three important games to focus on,’’ Ujah concluded.

Since his move to Europe from Warri Wolves, Ujah has averaged 0.45 goals per game in the league.
